このたび、桃青京都ギャラリー（ギャラリーA）で、鉄を素材に独自の造形を展開している金属造形作家・留守玲による個展を開催いたします。
本展においては、熔融速度や接触頻度の差異によって導かれた鉄の多様な相貌を、紡ぐように創り上げた新作を発表いたします。 素材の特性や歴史的・文化的背景に真正面から挑み、全体と部分、刹那と永劫といった対概念を同時に捉えようとする試みの中で現れる「美」の所在をぜひご高覧賜りますようご案内申し上げます。 We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Aki Rusu, a metal sculptor who creates unique forms using iron as her primary material. This exhibition presents new works meticulously crafted to reveal the diverse expressions of iron, guided by variations in melting speed and contact frequency. We invite you to witness the essence of beauty that emerges from her direct engagement with the material's properties and its historical and cultural context—an endeavor that simultaneously captures opposing concepts such as the whole and the part, the fleeting and the eternal. 【制作コメント】 私は鉄観・熔接観を持っています。 熔接・熔断とは、金属を局所的に熔融し、接合や切断をする為の工業技術ですが、私はこれを自分なりに解釈する事で、主目的である接合切断以外の要素を発見し、美的技法として作品へと昇華させてきました。それは熔融による変容を注視しながら、鉄をかき混ぜ、紡ぐ様にフォルムを創り上げる行為であり、熔融速度や接触頻度に変化を与えながら鉄を誘導して、様々な状態、風姿を獲得する時間でもありました。 私にとって創作とは、技法を通して言葉とフォルムを発見する事なのですが、段々と、それだけではないと考えるようにもなりました。 素材が元来備えている特性や、背景にある歴史、文化、情緒などに対し、私的技法で体当たりしています。全体と部分、刹那と劫とを同時に捉えたいと願望し、鉄と対峙していると、その複雑化した容態に「美を見つけた」と思える時があり、この情線をもって、社会や周囲と向き合っています。 [Artist Statement] I possess a perspective on iron and welding. Welding and cutting are industrial techniques that locally melt metal to join or sever it. By interpreting this process in my own way, I have discovered elements beyond its primary purpose of joining and cutting, elevating them into aesthetic techniques within my work. It is an act of creating form by stirring and spinning iron while intently observing its transformation through melting. It is also a time of guiding the iron by varying the melting speed and frequency of contact, enabling it to acquire diverse states and appearances. For me, creation is about discovering words and form through technique, but gradually, I came to believe it is more than that. I confront the inherent properties of the material, its underlying history, culture, and sentiment with my personal technique. I aspire to grasp the whole and the part, the fleeting moment and the eon simultaneously. When facing iron, there are moments when I feel I have “found beauty” within its complex state, and it is with this emotional thread that I engage with society and my surroundings. |
